Editorial policy

How we report, reference, correct and label our articles.

References

Every article is built from identifiable sources: peer-reviewed papers and preprints, space and science agencies, standards bodies, company announcements and documentation, and reporting from established outlets. They are listed as numbered references at the end of each article, and we say what kind of source each claim rests on.

Accuracy

We report numbers, units and dates as published and attribute them. We say whether research is peer reviewed, and we present product performance figures as the maker’s claims unless independently tested. We do not invent quotations or people. We use software to help research and draft; an editor checks every article against its references before publication.

Independence

Coverage is chosen on its interest to readers. Sponsors and partners do not decide what we report or how. Commercial content is reviewed by the editor for accuracy and relevance.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it. Material corrections are noted on the article with the date of the change. Requests go through the contact page.
